Community Guidelines
Last updated: 11/15/2025
Our Mission
Lume exists to help people overcome gaming addiction through community support, accountability, and shared experiences. We believe recovery is possible, and that nobody should face this journey alone. These guidelines exist to ensure our community remains safe, supportive, and focused on healing.
Core Values
Compassion
We treat each other with kindness and understanding, recognizing that recovery is hard and everyone's path is different.
Support
We lift each other up during difficult times and celebrate victories together, no matter how small.
Safety
We protect each other's privacy and create a space where vulnerability is respected.
Accountability
We hold ourselves and each other accountable while remaining non-judgmental and constructive.
What We Expect From Our Community
Do This
- Be Supportive: Encourage others in their recovery journey. A kind word can make all the difference.
- Share Your Experience: Your story might help someone else. Share your struggles, victories, and lessons learned.
- Respect Privacy: What's shared in Lume stays in Lume. Don't share others' personal information or stories outside the app.
- Be Honest: Authenticity helps everyone. If you relapse, share it. If you're struggling, say so.
- Welcome Newcomers: Remember what it was like on day one. Make new members feel supported.
- Give Constructive Feedback: If you disagree with someone, do so respectfully and focus on the issue, not the person.
- Report Concerning Behavior: If you see something that violates these guidelines, report it to keep our community safe.
- Respect Boundaries: Not everyone wants advice. Ask before offering suggestions, and respect when someone says no.
Don't Do This
- Harassment or Bullying: No personal attacks, name-calling, or targeting individuals. Zero tolerance.
- Promotion of Gaming: Don't share game names, screenshots, streams, or anything that glorifies gaming.
- Encouraging Relapse: Never encourage someone to give up recovery or minimize their addiction.
- Hate Speech: No racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, or discrimination of any kind.
- Spam or Self-Promotion: No ads, MLM schemes, or unrelated promotions. This isn't a marketplace.
- Inappropriate Content: No sexual content, graphic violence, or disturbing material.
- Doxxing: Never share someone's personal information (address, phone number, real name if not public) without consent.
- Impersonation: Don't pretend to be someone else, including staff members or peer mentors.
- Manipulation: Don't guilt-trip, gaslight, or manipulate community members.
Handling Sensitive Topics
Recovery often involves discussing difficult subjects. Here's how to navigate them safely:
- Relapses: Sharing relapses is encouraged for accountability, but don't glorify or provide step-by-step accounts that might trigger others.
- Mental Health: It's okay to discuss struggles with depression, anxiety, etc., but we're not qualified to diagnose or treat mental health conditions.
- Self-Harm or Suicide: If someone expresses intent to harm themselves, report it immediately. We will escalate to appropriate crisis resources.
- Substance Abuse: Many in our community face multiple addictions. Support is welcome, but specific instructions on substance use are not.
